Athletics at Rolling River

Athletics

Athletic Staff

Our staff’s dedication and professionalism provide a creative, instructional and safe environment for children to play and learn. The entire program is overseen by our experienced Director of Physical Education, Athletics and Health, Owner Dr. Mark Goodman, and headed by a supervisor of athletics with a physical education background. All athletic areas are led by either sport specialists, or one of the physical education teachers who rotate to ensure coverage at ALL areas. Depending on a camper’s interest, Rolling River has offered mini-camp or daily clinics in a variety of sports. Hobby time, where campers select their own activity, are great opportunities for children who want more sports to achieve this goal. Under the umbrella of Rolling River Sport Camps, private or semi-private lessons in different sports are offered before or after camp by some of our specialists and differ from year to year. A special mailing will be sent during the spring with details of these programs.

athletic program

Our daily instructional and recreational programs are created so that all children can participate successfully. “Winning the game” during these activities is a low priority. All campers are ultimately given the opportunity to experience every sport Rolling River has to offer. However, this is accomplished in a carefully designed progression of skills. The supplies and equipment campers play with are appropriate to maximize safety and success. Our youngest campers are given numerous opportunities to practice with their own balls and play with innovative equipment. This enables them to maximize movement, insuring fun-filled experiences that improve performance. As a child grows, the activities become more challenging with a wider variety of different equipment, so that each camper can progress at their own pace.

Intramurals and Intercamp Games

For those campers looking for a more competitive situation, Rolling River offers intramural leagues for girls and boys entering 2nd grade and older. Our innovative program includes many of the games mentioned above, as well as novelty games, relays and more. We also encourage campers to write articles, make posters and create cheers adding to a team’s point total. These creative additions enables all campers to become an important member of the team.
Intercamp games and tournaments are the most competitive environment and are open to those campers desiring this experience. Rolling River has been instrumental in developing these
programs with other day camps in the area.
