Introducing the Tadpoles: A NEW Camp Group in the Skipper Division with Emphasis on Sensory & Language Based Development
Developed by a multidisciplinary team of Special Education teachers, Occupational Therapists and Speech Pathologists, our newly created pilot program benefits 3 & 4 year old children with developmental delays and special needs. This unique program was designed to provide children with a carefree summer in their least restrictive environment. The Tadpoles group offers the perfect balance between a center-based summer program and a traditional day camp. Our ultimate goal is to ease the transition into mainstream school and camp programs. Parents can be assured that this specialized program will provide daily sensory and language-based activities to promote carryover and retention of skills learned throughout the year.
This innovative program offers:
- Smaller group size with a lower camper-to-counselor ratio
- Sensorimotor and language-based activities incorporated into established camp program
- Focus on language development, independence, socialization and enhancement of ADL (Activities of Daily Living) skills
- Additional transition time built into schedule
- Ongoing staff training with therapists throughout the camp season
- Integration with other camp groups to provide children with peer models
- Additional parent communication with Head Counselor
- Opportunity to bring in outside therapists during the camp day
- PLUS all the incredible benefits of Rolling River Day Camp including safe and meticulous campgrounds, door-to-door transportation, daily lunch and snacks, Red Cross swim instruction in our new state of the art, fully enclosed Junior pool complex, diversified program & more.
Full day and 3/4 day options are available for the 8 week camp program. The cost is $200 over the current Nursery and Pre-K camp tuition rate due to the specialized services included.
All prospective campers must be evaluated by camp staff prior to enrollment to determine if this program is an appropriate match. Prospective campers must complete a Tadpoles application form and provide 2 written references to apply to this program. Once approved, applicants will arrange a pre-camp meeting and complete the camp enrollment contract.
