Skipper Scoop
What a fun-filled Spirit Week we celebrated down by the RIVA! We wore creative costumes for each theme day and showed our gorgeous smiles on Wednesday for Picture and Video Day. After practicing all week, we performed group songs and showed off our artistic talents with beautiful plaques during Friday’s Song & Plaque Day. We love singing and dancing on stage!
Skipper Snack began this week too! Each week, two or three Skipper groups meet with me and Assistant Supervisor Ali to eat a fun pancake snack and make a “ladybugs and bumblebees”craft. We have so much fun sharing during this special snack! At Hidden Treasures, we talked about having good manners, and practiced using our three magic phrases: please, thank you, and excuse me. We are very polite! Intramurals continued this week, as Kindergarten boys and girls learned new athletic skills and played basketball and softball on teams. Kindergarten groups took their first-off campus trip to 5 Star Gymnastics, where they bounced and jumped on trampolines and showed their coordination on the balance beam. G-O-O-O Kindergarten!!
Visiting Days kick off next week! We look forward to welcoming Kindergarten families on Tuesday, July 14th, Pre-K families on Thursday, July 16th, and Nursery and Toddler families on Tuesday, July 21st. Please see our Visiting schedule for specific group visiting times.
“Sea” you on Monday,

Mariner Messages
Mariners really put their blue & white pride on display this week, wearing fun outfits for each day’s theme, beginning with Monday in Mexico. We also played our first fast-paced 6-3-1 competition, answering trivia questions to win points for our camp groups. Tourist Tuesday took us around the United States and the world, as Mariners showcased their travels in globally inspired outfits and accessories. In addition, almost 80 Mariners participated in their first on-campus Roller Skating session, showing their fancy footwork as they glided around the hockey rink. Don’t forget to send in helmets, safety gear, AND roller-skates for Roller Skating Session #2. On Wednesday, campers showed their pearly whites for Picture & Video Day, and competed in their first exciting “Girls vs. Boys” Price is Right quiz show, emceed by the talented Assistant Supervisor Lonny and graciously co-hosted by counselors Hally Cohen and Jason Coles. On Tank Top Thursday, we wore our favorite summer tops, Third Graders raced through a scavenger hunt to discover an ice cream sundae surprise at the end, and Fourth Graders soared the skies at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Spirit Week’s grand finale arrived with Friday’s Song & Plaque Day: each group sang a unique song and presented a plaque to the camp. The campers’ hard work and enthusiasm were evident as they performed with spirit and showed off beautifully designed plaques. There is NO QUESTION who has the MOST SPIRIT at Rolling River Day Camp!
A special thank you to Mariner CIT Logan Kohn, who performed an AMAZING magic show for us Friday morning. He really wowed us with his magic tricks, jokes, and professionalism. Way to go, Logan!
Congratulations to B1 and G10 – they had the most campers come to the Swirls & Twirls fundraiser Wednesday night.Congratulations to B7 – they won the July 4th Red, White, and Blue Day trivia contest! Each group will win a special prize!
Visiting Nights begin next Monday, July 13th! Please have your campers come in a bathing suit! We look forward to sharing our favorite camp activities with you. Please see the Visiting schedule for specific group visiting times.
Each week, I will be posting a trivia question. E-mail me at fran.rollingriver@gmail.com with your responses. The camper(s) with the correct answer will win a prize!
This week’s question: How many holes are at Rolling River Day Camp’s mini-golf course?
Good luck!
We can’t wait for all the fun waiting for us at camp next week!
Wishing everyone a happy weekend,

CIT FYI
We continue to be SO PROUD of our CITs! They arrive each day ready to play with the campers, make their day, and assist fellow counselors and supervisors in any way they can. In between all the hard work, CITs still find time to have fun together, too. This week, they beat the heat on the cool rides at Splish Splash Water Park, played basketball on the court, and got together for a photo on Picture & Video Day.
Next Monday, our 10th grade CITs will bring their smiles and energy to the Ronald McDonald House for their Community Service trip, where they are sure to brighten up the day for the children and families staying there. Our 9th graders will bowl strikes and spares on a trip to the bowling alley and Ralph’s Ices. Wednesday, they’re off to Dave & Buster’s for a fun-filled day of games and prizes. We are all looking forward to Thursday’s CIT Late Night Party! The CITs will get the camp to themselves for a pool party, sports, and dinner. CITs will stay on campus and be picked up at 7pm. Having this chance to hang out and bond is sure to be a blast!
Have a wonderful weekend!
