What an exhilarating and eventful week we’ve had at the RIVA during Spirit Week! It all started on Monday with our smiles shining bright for Picture Day. Tuesday brought cozy vibes as we lounged in pajamas and enjoyed a day filled with crafts, sports and swimming. Also on Tuesday, our Navigators and CITs embarked on an exciting trip to Six Flags Great Adventure, where they had a blast on thrilling rides. Meanwhile, the Mariners showcased their skating skills at the Hockey Rink for our annual Roller Skating event. Our Hockey Counselor Dylan skated with the campers and Lonny served as the DJ with fun music (they even danced to the “Macarena” on skates. Wednesday we turned things around with Backwards Day. Many campers and staff wore their shirts and hats backwards- we were confused on which way was correct! On Thursday, we celebrated the upcoming Summer Olympics in the Skipper and Mariner Divisions. Each group was assigned a color of the Olympic Rings and campers and staff came up dressed up to support their color. We started the day with an Opening Ceremony and relay races and ended with a special medal ceremony where groups took photos on the Olympic podium. Meanwhile, our Navigators enjoyed fun in the sun at Long Beach. Friday was a crescendo of songs and cheers for Song and Plaque Day, where we demonstrated our creativity and singing prowess as we cheered for our groups and showcased our RIVA spirit! We will send out a full video from Song & Plaque Day next week.

Looking ahead, we have another jam packed week at Rolling River. Monday and Tuesday are Visiting Nights for the Mariner Division, the Navigators are heading to the Bronx Zoo and Medieval Times (as well as the Broadway Show!) and the Skippers can’t wait for Candyland Day. “Sea” you next week!
